Guatemala farmers losing their land to Europe's demand for biofuels

We have written before about the scandal of the evictions in the Polochic Valley as well as the struggle between biofuels and food. The Guardian has a recent article regarding this, pointing to the demand by the EU and UK governments for biofuel. One question that needs to be asked is where is this demand actually coming from? Don’t be surprised if it comes from the lobbyists (messenger boys and girls) for big capital as another scam to make money at the expense of the world’s poorest peoples. All in the name of protecting the environment?
