Elections - Guatemalan first couple to divorce

As we have noted earlier here and here, it cannot be a huge surprise to note that the President and his wife are seeking to divorce so that Sandra Colom is legally entitled to stand for the upcoming Presidential election. Hi Kevin,

Interesting article in the Guatemala Times. As we all know election years can be unpleasant for lots of reasons - violence, legal irregularities and corruption. Sounds like this year will be no different. and I found this interesting interview with Hector Cordero of Guatevision, who covers Quiche, about the difficulties facing journalists.It talks about how parties try to manipulate coverage by excluding them from meetings, or pay them "expenses" to try and get the best coverage. He also talks about the extra security measures he takes at this season.
